Frequently asked questions

Everything parents and organisations most often ask about iwa.

The basics

Who is iwa for?

iwa is designed for young people aged 10 to 17. Parents sign their children up; schools and other organisations can also run iwa for their students.

How are the modules delivered?

Each module is a short, self-paced interactive story and set of reflection questions — about 10–15 minutes. Children work on a phone, tablet or computer, at their own pace. There are no live sessions, cameras, microphones or public feeds.

Is there a cost?

There is free access to get started. iwa offers an Individual subscription for parents and a Corporate subscription for schools and organisations; details are shown in the app when you subscribe.

Can schools and organisations use iwa?

Yes. A Corporate subscription gives your organisation a workspace, teacher dashboards, class lists and reports, plus Connect with Code to link school and family records.

For parents

How do I sign my child up?

Create a Parent/Guardian account with your email, then add a Child Record with a few basic details. iwa generates a username and a temporary PIN for your child, and your child changes the PIN at their first sign-in.

What can I see about my child?

You can see which modules are open and completed, follow their journey, and read reflections your child chooses to share with you — plus any reflection a safety check says needs adult support. Reflections your child keeps private stay private.

Do I control which modules my child uses?

Yes. You can open or close iwa-approved modules for your child. What iwa makes available on the platform always comes first, and if a school is linked, its classroom settings come first within the school's scope.

Will I be spammed with emails?

No. You only receive updates you choose — such as module started or completed notifications — and you can adjust these any time in your settings.

Privacy and safety

Does iwa ask for photos or videos of my child?

No. iwa never asks for children's pictures, videos or voice recordings. There are no cameras, microphones, uploads, public feeds or social features anywhere in iwa. Students use a generated username and PIN — no email address or phone number is collected for young people.

Are there scores, leaderboards or character judgements?

No. iwa never scores character. Stars only mark module completion, reports use participation and completion only, and there are no rankings or permanent labels.

Who checks the reflections my child writes?

Reflections are read only by the people your child chooses, or by a safety check when something needs adult attention. A computer helper (AI) checks that reflections are on topic and that the child is OK — it never sees their name and never gives a score.

What does a school teacher see?

Teachers see reflections a student shares with them, module participation for their assigned classes, and observations they write. Students can ask for a teacher's note to be changed if they feel it is unfair.

Getting started

What does my child need to sign in?

A username and a PIN, both generated when you add your child. If the PIN is forgotten, you or your school's administrator can reset it.
